4/11/94 Snively Arena, UNH, Durham, NH Decent opening. The pre-Nirvana
section is drawn-out (sounds like a weak
Vibration of Life attempt was made), pleasant... certainly not unusually
so, though. Nirvana at 3:30... aaaaaaaawwww Page!
=^] So nice to hear you so cleanly (this is a very good copy from an
analog master, fwiw). Mike's solo section is good, as is the
pre-charge.. the first shot at the note, around 5:38 or so, is sustained
very well by Trey. Second note is well-jammed.. "Boy" at
6:55 after a good scream. Trey makes an announcement before the Tramps
segment that Brad will perform the tramps portion
of the program in Trey's place. Trey doesn't jam, fwiw, during the
opening of the tramps portion... Page plays well. Nothing
profound. The jam segment opens very preciously, yet again, around
10:50 or so.. Trey is very quiet at first, noodling. He
teases "Smoke on the Water" a couple times in here. Still, chillingly
quiet ... Groove returns around 11:37 or so, and starts
quietly working its way to The Dramatic Finish (very similar to 4/5).
Very melodious, catchy jam around 12:20.. Trey has
locked into a great theme to milk, and Page's mimicking accompaniment
on the piano is quite enjoyable, too. Trey begins
soloing in more typically YEM fashion within thirty seconds, though,
dropping that great theme.. Lots of noodling from Trey
around 13:15.. great crescendo in here, as on 4/5/94. Trey's soloing
is quite passionate, as is the accompaniment from the
others. Around 14:30 Trey begins soloing repetitively but nevertheless
melodiously, sweating out this climactic closing jam..
Some very good closing licks.. B&D segment begins at about 15:29,
with Mike fairly low on the 'doc, but melodiously soloing..
Fish is just keeping a fairly standard B&D accompaniment going.
Great groove around 16 minutes.. Mike starts smokin' that
thang (much better a B&D segment that 4/5/94). Nice B&D.. Mike
ends it with That Nice Little 4 Note Lick into the Closing
WUDMTF segment at 17:05 or so. "Don't leave your passport" is clearly
audible in this vocal jam, after a few minutes... nice
jam on these lyrics for a minute or so.. then a little more vocal madness.
Typically queer vocal jam ... Trey appears to say "It's
my soul" quite a bit around 22 minutes.. Damn! =^] Quite the psychotic
vocal jam!! WOW!! Great ending, too! Total time
about 22:55. I thought the vocal jam was the real highlight of the
YEM.. jam segment was decent, as was the opening segment.
