This is a nice audience tape! The low gens must
really be crispy! Thanks to SSJORDAN for this
excellent show, with a fantastic Tweezer that,
frankly, is must-have if you are an aphishionado of
Tweezers (it is still a must-have SHOW, period).
Reba is nice in the first, not to mention the AC/DC
Bag opener and Coil closer. In the second, there's a
great lawn boy and possum on top of this killer
version of Tweezer. Fire and Freebird encores (you'd
think I was selling you this show, but it's great ..
really.. as is all of 8/93, frankly).
Now for the Tweezer.. Slightly faster than most
Tweezer openings, this one comes on strong and
quick. After the first verse, it slows down just a
tad (clearly deliberately), and the opening segment
actually has what sounds to be a little fumbling
around... not too tight in this opening segment..
sounds really loose, which, for the only lyrical
segment of the song, perhaps isn't that great. I was
definitely interested in what was to follow this
unusually below average opening segment. Post the
Ebeneezer chaos, the jam segment kicks in at about
the 4 and a half minute mark or so.
The jam comes on strong right away, and is very (dare
I use the word) rocking. Much more so than usual.
It isn't groovy, and isn't typically Tweezer in the
dark and eerie sense. Trey really wails on the
Languedoc.. you can tell he is serious about making
this Tweezer one of HIS versions. By the 7 minute
mark or thereafter, the jam gets a bit dissonant, but
it is actually reasonable-sounding and short, i.e.,
tolerable. It breaks down rather quickly, and
casquades mightily into a tweezeresque spooky
groove. They get stuck on a weird theme, led by
Trey, and it gets spacey... Sounds like they are
going to go into something. Suddenly, though, Trey
does a "Get Back" tease and WHAM!! The boyz return to
a severe 20 second rockin jam, until Trey lets out
another 'Get back' tease and WOOSH! they get back
into a slow, spacey curious "jam".. then Trey teases
'Get Back" again and a 10 second killer wailing bit
comes in followed by the typical dying out of the
tweezer jam ending. I thought this was it, but, no,
they had other plans... at about the 12 and a quarter
minute mark, the end of the LANDLADY jam springs in
fiercely in the midst of a slow dying out Tweezer
jam!! Sounds great! A "Get back" tease from Trey
sends them out of Landlady and into the sloooow end
of Tweezer we all know and love. Highly unusual,
folks. If you are into Tweezers and good shows, get
8/12/93. again, just over 13 minutes, which is
frankly what I think the average Tweezer was in
'92-'93.. 8.0 rating for this version. Well above
average... No TweezerRep at this show, but a
fantastic Possum closer!!
