I could have been at this show, but I was a geek and
studied for a final exam instead (how naive I was in
college). Several tunes were dedicated to Cam Neely,
who some of my friends said was in the audience at
this show (but who wasn't). The Chalk Dust is
especially killer... Tweezer segues out of Paul &
Silas (a standard version), and is almost precisely
ten minutes long. There is no final revisit to the
lyricless theme at the end, either, it just dies
out. The initial lyric/chorus/theme segment
witnessed some great screaming on
Ebeneeeeeeeeezzzzer, but is otherwise standard. I
love the beginning of the jam segment, when Trey
slides his pick up and down his strings and Mike
twangs his bass strings a bit. The jam is very dark,
and fierce, with a one-time Trey-sung "Sweeeeet
Emooooooootion," but, strangely, no Sweet Emotion
theme is played (as at Bomb Factory 5/7/94, or
5/6/93). The jam is assuredly very sweet, though...
one of my favorites of 1991 (I don't have too many).
The last lyricless theme bit isn't done.. it goes
right into Lizards. This is not a must have version
by any stretch (although the show is spectacular, and
you should have it.. I mean, a YEM->Harpua!?). I'd
rate this Tweezer a 5.5 .. the Tweezer Reprise at
this show was only 2 and a half minutes, with nothing
unusual or worthy of comment. (B-)
