Comments......
--All in all a VERY LONG SHOW. (the 1st set was @ 80 minutes, as was the
2nd set.
--The Agora is your typical rundown (dumpy) little theatre that i am so
used to seeing Phish in (aka....it was great!) security was nowhere to be
seen. the theatre seemed to be only 2/3 full. the balcony (where i hung
out) was almost empty (lots of dancing room). The crowd was very into it,
and the band returned the favor.
--Highlights......Esther (great!!!) also my first!
                  Split open.....
                  Rift
Possum (the intro was drawn out a bit. the "language"
made its appearance here. Included were
"asshole in the front row" and random screaming
                          (and various other bizarre tricks)
Fluffhead (WOW!!!!!) great jamming. Mike had on a wig
                              (aka "fluffhead") during this jam.
Mike's Groove (trampolines!) during groove the band
                            played
around alot with loud crashes and other stuff
                            that
                            made this jam very different.
Fee during the intro a stage prop of a palm tree
("bannana tree") was lowered onto the stage
                            right
behind Page. it seemed to catch the band by
                           surprise.
Sleeping Monkey What a great song!!! another first for
me. it really topped the evening off for me.

again much thanks to Henry Wu for getting me the tickets. Henry, your
tape will be sent as soon as my deck gets out of the shop. hopefully
sometime next week.
now for a grovel.......anybody got a copy of the show (lots to trade)
                 off to the Riviera..................

====================First off, Phish played in a good sized theatre
instead of the little ballroom they played in last September. The theatre
was definatly cool. From the stage to about 1/3 inside, was a flat,
open, space to dance. The remaining 2/3 behind the dance floor was your
regular, bolted in, theatre seats placed on an incline. There is also a
good sized balcony. Basically, the theatre is designed so there is not a
bad seat in the house. During the show, I estimated the main floor to be
about 70% full and the balcony about 15% full. In other words, from the
stage to the back wall, we had all the room we could ever want!!!
Now...about the show!!! The first set was actually fairly mellow.
In general, most of the songs played in this set did not have any crazy
changes nor incredebly long jams. BUT..it was a very good set!!! great
songs!!!!!!
*suzie greenberg*--> definatly a great tune to open with. When Page got
around to his second jam, he played the organ instead of the piano!!
*runaway jim*-->smooth, exciting, great jam. *split open & melt*--> I am
always thrilled to hear this one! On the ending jam, Fishman was a little
reserved on the crash cymabals...but by the end of it....he was smashing
them!!!
*guelah papyrus*--> Towards the end of this number, Mike and Trey were
doing their usual dance step (then kick their feet in the air). I guess
mike was a little excited because he kicked his microphone over!!.
*possum (w/language)*--> yahoo! The 1st signal Trey did was when you grab
your rist and scream "aw fuck!!". NO ONE caught on to that one!! 2nd was
for everyone to fall down.
About 30 of us on the dance floor participated in that one! Everyone else
looked at us wondering what the hell we were doing. 3rd was point to the
asshole in the front row. I don't think the guy they pointed at was an
ass-
hole though.
The second set was one of the most outragous sets I ever heard
phish
played. Yes...I was speechless. *tweezer*--> One of the longestand the
best
I've heard. Trey just simply wailed on his guitar and didn't want to
stop.
*fluffhead*--> YES!! I haven't seen them play this since Amy's Farm.
*mike's
song*--> rockin' as always!! Instead of having the strobes set up where
two
faces the crowd, and two face the band. Chris decided to have three
facing
the crowd!!! Two with the regular lights above, and the third on the
control
box between Mike and Trey's amps. Most excellent display!! *i am a
hydrogen*
--> Trey stood on Page's amp (or some box where the organ meets the
piano),
while Mike was standing on part of one of the PA's. Then they both lied
on
their backs and wiggled their feet in the air. *weekapaug groove*-->
INSANE.
I remember they completely change this song around...But I forget how. It
was
very cool!!! *fee*--> get this!!!! during this song, they had a huge
palm
tree coming down from the ceiling and was displayed on stage!!! That was
so
funny!! *BIKE!!!!!!!*--> I could not believe my ears. John Fishman
singing
one of my favorite PINK FLOYD songs!!!! Has he ever done this live
before?
This choice was very spontaneous, because Trey was running back and forth
on
the stage talking with the band members for about two minutes prior to the
song. John played on of the longest, and funniest vaccuum jams during
this
song as well!!! All in all....IT WAS A PHANTASTIC SHOW <----(by this
time,
that comment shouldn't be too suprising. )
One thing that was very cool was during intermission, Fishman did
not
go backstage. Instead he hung out on the stage and was talking with a
bunch
of phriendly pholk. One of the people asked him if the band was doing
Amy's
Farm again...and Fish said they most likely will!!!!!! He then mentioned
that they plan on doing it sometime in the first week of September. He
also talked about how excited the band was to play at U Mass!!!
Well...sorry about that. I wrote way too much thsn expected.
It's
just that...there was so much to talk about!!! Anyway, this is my last
post
till September. So I wanted to thank everyone on the net for helping me
expand
my phish collection and increasing my phish knowledge!!!! Have a kind
summer!!

For anyone who is interested, The agora, where last night's show was, has
a
major history. The agora is where the Moondog Coronation Ball was. If
this doesn't mean anything to anybody then this is considered one of the
first rock and roll shows ever. It was held by Alan Freed. I can't
remember when but it was sometime in the fifties. That building had been
in disrepair for years and then the old Agora burnt down and the owners
decided to open up that place. Well to much bandwidth taken but an
excellent place to see Phish. (By the way it was my first time and now
I'm
hooked.)
